Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
BoringCalculator is built so that using it never requires an account. This page explains exactly what's stored, where, and how to remove it if you ever choose to sign in.
If you don't sign in
Everything — every number you type and every result a calculator produces — stays entirely in your browser's local storage (localStorage). Nothing is sent to any server. Clearing your browser data or using a different browser/device removes it completely, and no one (including us) can see it.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is entirely optional and only exists to sync your saved snippets and calculator history across your own devices. When you sign in, we receive and store:
- From Google: your name, email address, and profile photo — used only to show you're signed in and to identify your data as yours.
- From you: whatever you explicitly save — "snippets" (bookmarked results) and recent-calculation history. Depending on which calculators you use, this may include numbers you typed in, such as income figures, loan amounts, body-measurement or health metrics, or savings goals. We only store what a calculator's result/summary displays — never anything beyond what you saved.
This data is stored in Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure), under a private per-account location that only your signed-in account can read or write — see the isolation guarantee documented in this project's firestore.rules and verified by its automated test suite. We do not sell this data, and we do not share it with any third party other than the Google Cloud infrastructure that stores it on our behalf.
How to delete your data
Open Settings (the gear icon in the navigation bar) while signed in, and use "Delete my account and data" under the Account section. This immediately and permanently deletes every snippet and history entry stored in your account, removes your Google sign-in link to the app, and clears the same data from this device's local storage. It cannot be undone. You can also just use "Sign out" if you'd rather stop syncing without deleting anything — your data stays in your account until you come back or choose to delete it.
Cookies & analytics
BoringCalculator does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics/tracking scripts. The only browser storage used is localStorage (for your preferences and, if you're signed in, your synced data) and, for signed-in users, Firebase Authentication's own session storage needed to keep you signed in.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what's collected or how it's used, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
